Solution: Sustainable Isolation producer. Owner: Biofib. Circular Strategy: Reduce.
Description
Biofib Isolation designs and manufactures new generation insulation solutions from hemp and flax. Since development in 2009, Biofib has developed high-performance, healthy, and sustainable insulation products that help reduce energy consumption. Their short circuit production method reduces their carbon footprint, through local farming, localised transportation of goods and zero waste from the plants used.
Location
La Montagne, Loire-Atlantique, France.
Potential circular economy impact
Hemp and flax cultivation are considered to have a favourable carbon footprint, with its low need for water and its rapid cultivation rate. There is also no waste from the plants for production where the whole pant is valued.
The plants are grown within a 100 km of the factory and the creation of the insulation panels are all completed on site, ensuring a reduced ecological footprint of building materials.
