Overview
This module provided an overview of the circular economy and how it addresses the climate emergency and global, national, and local sustainability challenges. It invited learners to reflect on their own input to these and provides an overview of the key definitions and activities of the circular economy. It outlined the roles of those involved in moving to a circular and greener economy, and highlighted the economic, social, environmental and employment opportunities.
The objectives of this module were:
- To explore the three pillars of sustainability and the United Nations’ seventeen sustainable development goals.
- To understand human impacts on the planet and the need for a circular economy.
- The introduce key concepts of a circular economy.
- To identify how the concepts of a circular economy can be applied in work and personal contexts.
This module was for those wanting to obtain a generic understanding of sustainability and a greener economy. Those who are concerned about the state of the environment and want to explore how they can make a difference through their actions. Those wishing to work or set up a business or social enterprise using a circular economy model but need more information.
